An Instagram carousel is one post that holds several photos and videos, and Instagram gives you no way to save them. The quickest fix: copy the post link, paste it into the ClipSaves Instagram Photo Downloader, and press Download all. Every slide saves as its own file, numbered in the order it appears in the post. This guide shows the exact steps on iPhone, Android and a computer, and explains what to do when a slide won't come through.

A carousel is any feed post you swipe sideways through. You can tell one apart by the row of small dots under the image, or the "1/7" counter in the corner. Instagram allows up to 20 slides per carousel (the limit was 10 until 2024), and the slides can be a mix of photos and videos.

The link to a carousel looks the same as any other feed post: instagram.com/p/ABC123. There is no separate link for each slide, which is exactly why saving them one at a time is such a chore: you would have to screenshot or screen-record every slide by hand, and lose quality doing it.

  1. Copy the post link. In the Instagram app, tap the three dots (⋯) above the post, or the paper-plane share icon under it, and choose Copy link. On a computer, open the post on instagram.com and copy the address from the browser bar.
  2. Open the Instagram Photo Downloader on ClipSaves in any browser.
  3. Paste the link into the box and press Fetch. Links with a long ?igsh= or ?img_index= tail are fine; you don't need to trim them.
  4. Check the slides. ClipSaves shows the post as a strip of thumbnails, one per slide it could resolve. Tap any thumbnail to preview it.
  5. Press Download all. Each slide downloads as a separate file: photos as JPG, videos as MP4. They're named instagram_1.jpg, instagram_2.mp4, instagram_3.jpg and so on, so the order of the post survives.

Only want one or two slides? Select the slide in the strip and use the normal Download button instead. It saves just that file.

Tip: if your browser asks whether this site may "download multiple files", choose Allow. Browsers ask this the first time a page saves several files at once; it's a safety prompt, not an error.

Use Safari (Chrome on iPhone works too).

  1. Copy the post link in the Instagram app as above.
  2. Open ClipSaves in Safari, paste the link and press Fetch, then Download all.
  3. Safari may ask you to confirm each download. Tap Download each time.
  4. The files land in the Files app, under On My iPhone → Downloads (or iCloud Drive → Downloads, depending on your Safari settings). Tap the download arrow in Safari's address bar to jump straight there.

Moving them into Photos: open a file in Files, tap the Share button and choose Save Image (or Save Video). To move several at once, tap Select in Files, pick the slides, tap Share and then Save Images.

If Safari only saves the first slide, that's iOS limiting several downloads from a single tap. Select each slide in the ClipSaves strip and download it on its own; it takes a few seconds per slide.

  1. Copy the link from the Instagram app.
  2. Open ClipSaves in Chrome (or Samsung Internet, Firefox, etc.), paste, Fetch, then Download all.
  3. If Chrome shows "This site is trying to download multiple files", tap Allow.
  4. The files go to your Downloads folder. Most gallery apps, including Google Photos and Samsung Gallery, show them in a Download album automatically; if they don't appear, open the Files app and look in Downloads.

This is the easiest place to save a big carousel, because desktop browsers handle many downloads at once without fuss.

  1. Open the post on instagram.com and copy the URL from the address bar.
  2. Paste it into ClipSaves, press Fetch, then Download all, and allow multiple downloads if your browser asks.
  3. Find the files in your Downloads folder. Because they're numbered, sorting by name keeps them in the post's order, which is handy if you're putting the slides into a document or a slideshow.

What quality will the photos and videos be?

You get the best version Instagram serves, with nothing added. That said, Instagram resizes and compresses everything on upload, so the file is Instagram's copy, not the original the creator took. Photos usually arrive as JPGs up to 1080 pixels wide, and videos as MP4s at the resolution Instagram stored. No downloader can give you a sharper version than Instagram keeps, whatever it claims.

ClipSaves doesn't add a watermark. If a creator put their own logo or watermark inside the image, that's part of the picture and will stay.

For video-heavy posts and Reels, our guide on how to download Instagram videos covers video-specific questions like audio and file size.

"Couldn't fetch" or no slides appear

  • The account is private. Instagram only shows private posts to approved followers, and ClipSaves never asks for your Instagram login. Only public posts work.
  • The post was deleted or archived. Open the link in a private browser window; if Instagram says the page isn't available, there's nothing left to download.
  • You copied a profile or Story link. Make sure the link contains /p/ (feed post) or /reel/. Stories need the Instagram Story Downloader instead.

Fewer slides than the post has

  • Occasionally one slide can't be resolved, most often a video inside a mixed carousel. Press Fetch again after a few seconds; Instagram's servers sometimes answer slowly. If the same slide is still missing, the rest of the set can still be saved.

Only one file downloaded

  • Your browser blocked the extra downloads. Look for a blocked-download icon in the address bar and choose Allow, or download the slides individually from the strip.

Files won't open

  • JPG and MP4 open on any phone or computer. If a file shows as 0 KB, the download was interrupted. Delete it and download that slide again.

Can I download carousels without the app or an account?

Yes. You don't need the Instagram app, an Instagram account, or a ClipSaves account. All you need is the post link, and you can copy that from the website on any computer. The only requirement is that the post itself is public.

Use the files responsibly

Saving a carousel doesn't transfer any rights to you. The photos and videos still belong to whoever made them. Downloading your own posts, or keeping a copy for personal reference, is the safe ground. Before reposting someone else's slides, ask them, and credit them clearly when you do. Commercial use without permission can lead to takedowns or copyright claims. Instagram's own Terms of Use also apply, and our copyright page explains how we handle rights-holder requests.

Summary

To download an Instagram carousel, copy the post link, paste it into the Instagram Photo Downloader, press Fetch and then Download all. Every slide (photos as JPG, videos as MP4) saves as its own numbered file, in order. On iPhone, move them from Files into Photos with Save Image; on Android they show up in your gallery's Download album; on a computer they're in Downloads. If something fails, check the post is public and the link contains /p/.
