Download Facebook Reels as Standalone Files
Facebook Reels work much like their Instagram and TikTok counterparts: short, vertical, and impossible to save from the app as an ordinary file. Paste the Reel's link into ClipSave and it downloads as a normal MP4.
The saved file keeps the original vertical shape and resolution, ready to watch offline or move to another device. ClipSave adds no watermark of its own.
Save what you are entitled to save — your own Reels, content you have permission to keep, or clips clearly released for that purpose.
How to Copy a Facebook Reel Link
In the app: open the Reel, tap the share icon, then Copy link.
On desktop: open the Reel and copy the address bar, or right-click the video and choose Copy video URL.
Reel addresses look like facebook.com/reel/123456789 or fb.watch/abcdef. Both resolve here, as do ordinary facebook.com/watch links when a Reel is surfaced that way.
Paste the link above, press Fetch, check the preview, then Download.
Public, Private and Group Reels
Only publicly visible Reels can be fetched. Facebook serves anything else — private profiles, closed groups, friends-only posts — exclusively to a signed-in account with permission, and ClipSave never asks for your Facebook login.
A quick way to check before you try: open the link in a private browser window while logged out. If the Reel plays there, it will resolve here. If Facebook shows a login wall, it will not.
Deleted Reels and posts removed for policy reasons return nothing, since there is no longer a file being served.
Quality and Format
Facebook re-encodes everything on upload, so what downloads is the file Facebook stored rather than the creator's master. For recent Reels that is usually 1080p; older or heavily compressed uploads come back lower.
Output is MP4 with the audio inside — playable on any phone, tablet, TV or computer, and importable into any mainstream editor.
We do not re-encode, so there is no second generation of compression between Facebook's copy and the file on your device.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I copy the link to a Facebook Reel?
- Open the Reel, tap the share icon and choose Copy link, then paste it above. On desktop you can copy the address bar instead.
- Can I download Reels posted in a private group?
- No. Only publicly visible Reels can be downloaded — Facebook serves private and group content only to a signed-in account with access.
- Will the video have a Facebook watermark on it?
- ClipSave adds nothing to the file. If the creator burned a watermark into their own Reel, it is part of the video and stays.
- What quality will I get?
- Whatever Facebook stored for that Reel, commonly 1080p for recent uploads. Nothing is re-encoded on our side.
- Do fb.watch short links work?
- Yes. Short fb.watch links and full facebook.com/reel/ addresses both resolve.
- Do I need a Facebook account?
- No. You only need the public link to the Reel.
