How to Download Telegram Videos & Media (2026)
June 15, 2026
Telegram and Video Downloads
Telegram is unique among social platforms: it already has a built-in download feature. Most Telegram clients let you save media directly from the app. However, some content on public Telegram channels is accessible via web links, and users sometimes prefer a browser-based approach to download videos from public channels without the Telegram app.
Method 1: Download Directly Inside the Telegram App
For most videos in your chats and channels, the easiest approach is within the app itself.
On Android: tap and hold the video, then tap the Save (download) icon, or tap the video to open it and then tap the download button at the top.
On iPhone: tap the video, tap the share icon (box with arrow), and select Save Video. Alternatively, use Save to Files.
On Desktop (Windows/Mac): right-click the video message and select Save As, or click the download icon that appears when you hover over the video.
Method 2: Download via Public Channel Link
Some public Telegram channels share videos with direct web links. If you have a t.me/channelname/123 style link:
1. Open ClipSave's Telegram downloader 2. Paste the public channel post link 3. Click Fetch and download the video
This works for public channels where the content is accessible without a Telegram account.
File Size Limits
Telegram allows file sizes up to 2 GB for premium users. When downloading, the full original file quality is preserved — Telegram does not re-compress media like other platforms. This is one reason Telegram is popular for sharing high-quality video content.
Downloading from Private Groups
Private groups and channels require Telegram authentication. Browser-based tools cannot access private content. Use the native Telegram app to save media from private groups you've joined.
